Throughout the topic, the children will learn about the four seasons and the weather patterns that are typically associated with each season. They will observe and describe weather over a period of time and record their observations.

The Year One curriculum builds upon the experiences the children had in Reception. Learning through play will continue to be a part of the school day, with the learning becoming more formal throughout the school year.

Please ensure your child has their reading book and diary in school every day

Children should be reading their reading book at home every day for at least 5 minutes. Please log (date and initial) every time your child reads at home. This will be monitored in school.

Remember to talk about the pictures and ask questions as you are reading together e.g. How does the character feel? Why did the character do that? What do you think will happen next?

Year 1 visit the library every Thursday. Please make sure your child has their library book in school so that they can change it.
