Welcome to Year 3's class web page. Here you will be able to find the latest information about what Year 3 are currently learning.

Tremors!

 

Overwhelming and mighty, Mother Nature's awesome energies hiss and roar deep within the Earth. Plates collide, spewing lava. Rocks rain down and mud slides in torrents. Towns and cities vanish under ashen clouds.

Discover the dangerous and ferocious world of natural disasters, and glimpse their savage and deadly effects.

Visit the city of historic Pompeii, frozen in time.

Discover the properties of rocks shaped by the Earth's breathtaking power.

In English the children will focus on persuasive letter writing, historical narrative and Newspaper reports.

Homework

  • Homework books are given out every Friday with new work, for English and Maths, to complete and should be returned the following Thursday.
  • Please complete three of the homeworks linked to the topic. These can be found on the 'Ideas for home learning' sheet.
  • Spellings are given out on Mondays in their home spelling book and should be brought into school every Friday. We can can then give out new spellings as well as record their score and inform you of the ones they still need to practise.
  •  Library books will be changed every Tuesday.
  • Year 3 children should be reading their reading books every day at home and then returning them to school the following day. Please could adults who are hearing the children read, write a brief comment in their Reading Records.

The expectation for Year 3 children is to already know the 2, 5 and 10 timestable randomly and in order. Please continue to practise these with your children to improve their speed and accuracy of recall. They will now be learning their 3, 4, 6 and 8 times table. Children have now started to have a weekly test. Ask them which times table they are up to...

 PE 

  • They will have a PE lesson each Thursday. Weather permitting, children will be outside so please ensure they have appropriate outdoor kit. They will have a swimming lesson every Monday afternoon.
