          Welcome to Year 3

Welcome to Year 3's class web page. Here you will be able to find the latest information about what Year 3 are currently learning.

PREDATOR

It's time to walk on the wild side! Find out who's coming to visit...is it a bug-munching lizard or an eagle-eyed bird of prey? Whatever it is, do you think you can handle it?

Learn about creepy crocs and amazing alligators, the deadly assasin bug and the voracious Venus flytrap. Be inspired to write an informative leaflet all about your favourite predator and compose a poem about a predator or its prey.

Homework

  • Homework books are given out every Friday with new work, for English. Maths is to be completed online on the Mathletics website. Please complete and  return the following Thursday.
  • Please complete three of the homeworks linked to the topic. These can be found on the 'Ideas for home learning' sheet.
  • Spellings are given out on Mondays in their home spelling book and should be brought into school every Friday. We can then give out new spellings as well as record their score and inform you of the ones they still need to practise.
  •  Library books will be changed every Tuesday.
  • Year 3 children should be reading their reading books every day at home and then returning them to school the following day. Please could adults who are hearing the children read, write a brief comment in their Reading Records.

The expectation for Year 3 children is to already know the 2, 5 and 10 timestable randomly and in order. Please continue to practise these with your children to improve their speed and accuracy of recall. They will now be learning their 3, 4, 6 and 8 times table. Children have now started to have a weekly test. Ask them which times table they are up to...

 PE

  • They will have a PE lesson each Tuesday and Thursday. Weather permitting, children will be outside so please ensure they have appropriate outdoor kit.
