At Longford Park, the School Council members meet several times per half term with Mrs Farrelly, Deputy Headteacher. The Council have many roles in school including organising fund raising events, making decisions in school and leading assemblies. They are very busy and dedicated children.
Every year the School Council representatives for each Key Stage 2 year group are elected by their fellow class mates after presenting to the group about what they could bring to the role. This demonstrates to our children what a 'democracy' is. They are also interviewed by Mrs Goode and Mrs Farrelly.
We are very proud of our School Council.
Longford Park School Council Members
This year, our chosen charity to fundraise for is Myton Hospices.
- We have successfully hosted an assembly for Comic Relief and collected money during a non-uniform day.
- During Remembrance Week, we collected doantions for the Royal British Legion.
- We have hosted a 'Celebrating Differences Day' when we came to school wearing clothes which represent who we are.
- A rewards afternoon was organised by us, after writing to the PTA for some funding for inflatables.
- As part of our role, we have all been WOW! Travel Tracker ambassadors, giving our badges and awards to children who regularly walk, bike, scoot or use public transport to get to school.
- After collecting money for Children in Need, we counted the money responsibly and reported the total to the school office.
- We have carried out surveys with all children in school about different clubs they would like to see at lunch times and after school. This data has been used to order equipment and apply for extra funding to host the most popular ideas.
- When visitors come to school, we take them on tours and show them how incredible our school is.
